Coors Light is in the new for two reasons - they’re making Coors Almighty Light with holy water as a collaboration with he Foo Fighters and the upcoming Studio 666 horror-comedy movie. Whether it is an effective demon deterrent remains to be seen - but we do know that Coors Light is making an investment in deterring some single use plastics! Molson Coors is making an $85 million investment in transitioning from plastic rings to fully recyclable and sustainable cardboard wrap carriers later this year. It will have a significant impact by removing 1.7 million pounds of plastic waste annually. Coors Light will be leading the way, with other brands to follow. Expect the entire North American portfolio to transition by 2025. What would your friends say if you bought a 30 acre hole in the ground? They might think you’ve gone mad or at least losing a bit of touch with reality - but Nigel Jagger did just that 35 years ago and proved his critics wrong. He’s turning that hole, an abandoned war bunker, into a massive wine cellar that now holds $2 Billion worth of wine. It maintains a consistent temp of 57 F and 80 percent humidity. Conveniently, that’s also good conditions for Formula 1 racing tires, which were also stored there in the past. I doubt I’ll ever have anything currently stored in there - like the case of 1945 Chateau Coeval Blanc wine valued at $150,000 or the $2 Million bottle of whiskey. Heck - I wouldn’t even want to be in there with those prices - I’m too afraid I’d drop something. For more https://www.insidehook.com/article/booze/octavian-vaults-wine-bunker
Speaking of Whiskey though - it can be hard to choose a good bottle, and price isn’t always an effective way of determining which one is the best (but every so often who among us doesn’t drop some coin on something special?) According to some experts - there are six bottles you can’’t really go wrong with - and since it’s the Food Network they probably know what they’re talking about. One of them was surprising, as it’s an $89 bottle of Hillock Solar from NY, but it was good to see the affordable Elijah Craig Small Batch on there and a great (dare I say cheap) whiskey for mixed drinks Wild Turkey 101. Next Time: I might have something coming up with some musicians, I’ll keep you informed!
Remember - don’t drink and drive, stay safe, drive sober and support the booze that supports your local community.
